MINUTES OF MEETING EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE NWO-SEM SLEEP SOCIETY Date: Dec. 17, 2004

Present: Navin Jain, Michael Neeb, Kevin Saco, Allen Klempert, James Spacek.
Absent: James Kusina
Excused: Jill Grzywinski
Meeting called to order at 3:35 PM.
Kevin Saco discussed addition of new section of amendments to By-laws and
this was approved.
Any expenses related to work by any secretary to help an executive committee
will be reimbursed on individual basis on submission of cost. (Approved by all
present)
Membership dues for year 2005 will be waived off for all current full, associate
and institutional members. (Approved by all present)
Navin Jain discussed creating a Sleep Society liaison at every sleep lab and
DME Company to encourage membership and also bring interests of
membership to executive committee. Michael Neeb also added that liaison will
also be able to help in assessing educational needs of sleep community. Jim
Spacek and Jim Kusina will head Membership Committee.
Allen Klempert discussed education program. It was proposed to have at least
2 programs – in May and October. Several topics were discussed : arrhythmias
in sleep; EEG in sleep; expanded EEG protocol; CV consequences of OSA;
insomnia; sleep schedule – shift work; life insurance and OSA; common
complaints in CPAP use; adherence to compliance with CPAP use; new
equipments and technology; Sleep Medicine 101 primarily for physicians but for
other people as well; community education program. Allen Klempert and
Michael Neeb will head Education Committee.
Kevin Saco provided information regarding applying for non-profit status. He will
get application (IRS form 510©3) and will start applying.
Website creation was discussed. Navin Jain and Michael Neeb will head the
committee. They will check with local schools if they can develop website and
host it. Allen Klempert mentioned George Mikhail at his lab as one source who
may help as well.
Newsletter was discussed. Navin Jain and Jill Grzywinski will head the
committee. Different sections in newsletter were discussed and will be
assigned to individuals who will serve as their editors: clinical case scenarios;
epoch corner; from sleep journal and other journals; new technology;
advertisement from institutional members; in the news (from members); from
executive committee; advertisement for membership; 1-2 educational articles;
others.
